1.15.10 (Friday): Quiz (Open Book) on Letters pgs. 3-21. Read Ch. 9 of Narrative. Did a "character wheel" on Master Auld. See presentation for instructions. Read Ch. 10 (Part I) of Narrative. Disregard the "open mind" activity. HW: Read Letters, pg. 22-41. 

 

1.13.10 (Wednesday): Read Ch. 8 of Narrative. HW: Read Letters, pg. 3-21. Study for Quiz on Letters on Friday. 

 

1.12.10 (Tuesday): Hampton was out sick. Students wrote a 1-page compare/contrast essay outlining the major differences between My Bondage My Freedom in the textbook with Chapter 6/7 of Narrative. HW: Finish 1-page essay. 

 

1.11.10 (Monday): Hampton was out sick. Students wrote a 5 paragraph essay on the following topic: Write to your principal to explain why you should or should not have gone to school when the power was out.

Remaining time was spent working on the Nature Journal Project.

A graphic organizer on types of persuasion was filled out while reading. HW: Think of one thing about school policy that you would like to see changed. Think of reasons why you would want to change this policy. Explain your answer. Due Monday.

 

11.4.2009 (Wednesday): Early Release Day. Notes: Subjects and Predicates. HW: Grammar 23/24.

 

11.3.2009 (Tuesday): Read "Speech at the Virginia Convention." Students completed a graphic organizer on types of rheorical devices. HW: Read "Speech in the Convention" on pgs. 104-107. Complete questions 2/3 on pg. 108.

 

11.2.2009 (Monday): Introduction to expectations in Quarter 2. Changes to make up work policy. Crucible Essays are still due. Crucible/Scarlet Letter books were collected. Notes on speeches and pesuasive appeals. Students practiced recognizing different types of persuasion in video clips: logical, emotional, and ethical. See presentation for details.
